ΑΔΛΓ SORORITY CONSTITUTION
Preamble
The Members of Alpha Delta Lambda Gamma Sorority strive to promote achievement through leadership and mindfulness. Fostering relationships built on supportive, encouraging, and meaningful bonds of loyalty, honesty, and transparency.
Article I. Name
This organization shall be known as Alpha Delta Lambda Gamma Sorority and herein referred to as ΑΔΛΓ. This sorority shall be represented legally as ALPHA DELTA LAMBDA GAMMA INC. It shall be incorporated under the laws as one of the United States of America states, as a sorority, not for financial gain. The name ΑΔΛΓ was chosen based on the Greek translation to English meaning significant (Alpha), change (Delta), the light of knowledge (Lambda), and independent (Gamma).
Article II. Purpose
The purpose of ΑΔΛΓ is to:
Assemble non-traditional college women, encourage mindfulness, embolden devoted Sisterhood bonds, promote leadership qualities, and celebrate achievements.
Article III. Chapter Colors and Symbols
Mascot: Sloth (Rose Mallow) - Represents groundedness, patience, seeking wisdom, self-reflection, and opting for peace
Flower: Purple Hibiscus - Represents friendship, knowledge, royalty and mystery
Gem: Lapis Lazuli - The stone of truth and friendship
Colors: Indigo and Silver - The color indigo is related to devotion, wisdom, justice and helping others. The color silver is related to self-reflection, unconditional love, kindness and elegance.
Nickname: SlothSisters
Pillars: Achievement, Mindfulness, and Loyalty
Motto: The key to true Sisterhood is standing side by side through the hard times.
Latin Slogan: Ab Extraneis Sororibus - From Strangers to Sisters
Article IV. Membership
To be eligible for membership in ΑΔΛΓ, individuals must be or have been an online university student and meet additional requirements as prescribed in the Bylaws of this sorority.
Article V. Code of Conduct
Membership in ΑΔΛΓ is a privilege. Each member, honorary member, pledge, initiate, and alumna, is bound to this Constitution and therefore the Code of Conduct as prescribed in the Bylaws of this sorority.
Article VI. Officers
The officers of ΑΔΛΓ Sorority shall be composed of not more than six (6) individuals to be known as the ΑΔΛΓ Council and must include at least the following officers: President, Vice President, and Treasurer.
Article VII. Meetings
All ΑΔΛΓ meetings and committee meetings are open to students, members, faculty, administration, and honorary members of ΑΔΛΓ.
Article VIII. Finances
Funds held by ΑΔΛΓ Sorority shall be administered based on the budget adopted resulting from a two-thirds vote conducted by ΑΔΛΓ Council.
Article IX. Amendments
The Constitution may be amended at any ΑΔΛΓ Council by a two-thirds vote of the chapter delegates present and entitled to vote, provided that additional requirements as prescribed in the Bylaws of this sorority are met.
Article X. Dissolution
Upon the dissolution of the corporation, assets shall be distributed for one or more exempt purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(7) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future tax code, or shall be distributed to the Federal Government, or a State or Local Government, for public purpose. Any such assets not so disposed of shall be disposed of by the Court of Common Pleas of the county in which the principal office of the corporation is then located, exclusively for such purposes or to such organizations, as said Court shall determine, which are organized and operated exclusively for such purpose.
